FOR SALE - 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500. £2200 OVNO

113525 miles, very sound car, well looked after. One year MOT. Runs and drives beautifully. A1 hood. Being red, the paintwork is fading and could do with some attention. Rear panel needs some work.

Drive as it is or spend the winter getting it to concours for next summer.

And with the hood up. The hood is only a year old.

The engine bay

The boot

The stereo even works.

Its been fitted with an extra two lights and air horn.

Heres a close up of the wheel arch that needs some work

And the dent beside it.

Could do with new or re-upholstered seats

In this shot you can see the extent of the fade from the paint usually protected by the hood

There is also a split on the dash

So in Summary, the good bits:

Sound body, very little rust, chassis & body solid.

Engine is excellent. Drives beautifuly

New clutch and slave cylinder this summer.

Goodridge hoses on front.

Newish hood.

Benefits from extra lighting and loud horn.

Stainless Steel tubular manifold and sports exhaust. Sounds GREAT!

Sits on Montego wheels, slightly wider and better road holding.

I've got a spare bootlid (without rack) and a roll bar to go with her if the price is right. I took the roll bar off for aesthetic reasons

And the not so good bits

Paintwork is the major drawback. Looks good after a polish and when wet but when dust and/or sunlight get to it the red goes lighter. Could do with either a session with cutting compound or a re-spray. Not bad enough to look shabby but not great.

Dent on rear driver side wing. Advised that colour wouldnt match if it was beat out so left for new owner to decide how much to do.

Seats look shabby

some small paint chips around the body

Split on the dashboard

Petrol guage doesn't work

More than a year ago one of the radiator hoses split. Had a bit of steam but no engine harm caused. Replaced radiator at same time as new set of hoses. Fitted wider radiator to improve. A bit dirty but very efficient.

So why am I selling?

A mixture of reasons really. I've been driving classics for some years now and loved every minute of it. we also have a Morris Minor Traveller that my wife drives. However, with children getting older I need more up to date safe transport. With me getting older I need something that doesn't make my back creak so much. I like to keep the Spit in the garage over the winter but this year that won't be possible. Its not fair to make it sit outside. We also need to move from being a three car to a two car family. Sadly the sensible gene has activated itself for now. One day when we move the kids out and can buy a house with a barn I'll build the collection up again. But for now my sad loss will be someone elses gain.
